Tajikistan – Here’s a starting point for planning a trip
The aim of this website is to provide an information resource that will help facilitate independent travel to Tajikistan.
News:
January 2010: Mountain Unity folk (see the Wakhan Page to find out who they are) are currently in the Uk, going back to Afghanistan in March. Then they will be setting up a nursery in the Afghan Wakhan. They have a wishlist at Amazon for good quality toys for the nursery. This is a wonderful chance for such an impoverished area so please support them if you can.
December 2009: Roof of the World Rally has just opened for entries for the 2010 Rally! That means if you fancy driving to Tajikistan next Summer – you can do it with others, get some advice on how to do it, and at the same time support an educational charity based in Taj. Places on the Rally are very limited!
The launch of the ‘Tajikistan and the High Pamirs’ Guidebook on 4th November 2009 in London – Hosted by Odyssey Books & the Embassy of Tajikistan, with presentations by Robert Middleton and Huw Thomas was excellent! It was a fantastic opportunity for the Tajik community in London to celebrate their country and culture and the evening was finished off which some Tajik dancing! Thank you to the organisers!

Tajikistan isn’t the easiest country to get to or travel through, but it is one of the most beautiful and fascinating
This website is still getting developed and content is gradually being added. It does assume that the visitor already knows something about the country.
This website aims to help facilitate travel and tourism to Tajikistan – so if you are a potential traveler – what do you want to know or would you find helpful on this website? This website is going to get bigger and better so what do you want to see on it?
About this website
This website aims not to duplicate the information already out there – there are some excellent informative websites already regarding certain aspects (although most are in danger of getting out of date). This website aims to point you to the best ones as well as fill in the gaps. Most of all this website is a work in progress and feedback is appreciated.
I don’t claim to know everything so please provide feedback when I have forgotten something obvious or you know something contrary. I welcome new updated information or experiences/feedback that may be deemed useful to the community. There will be a forum set up here in the not too distant future.
