Tajikistan – Here’s a starting point for planning a trip
The aim of this website is to provide an information resource that will help facilitate independent travel to Tajikistan.
News:
Celebrations
Tajikistan is celebrating 20 years of Independance this year (2011). There have been two recent events in London celebrating this anniversary and encouraging business investment in Tajikistan. There was a very informative debate that took place in the House of Commons on the 22nd November organised by the VSO, and there was also a British Expertise CATBIG meeting on the 24th November which was highly recommended for people wishing to potentially invest in Tajikistan. Thanks must go to the organisers as events for Tajikistan tend to be a bit thin on the ground!
One of the exhibitors at CATBIG event was an agency called Etc4ca who are working with META and have recently produced a rather lovely calender for 2012 that can be viewed here, the proceeds from the calender will be going to develop Tajik tourism.
Also the new and updated Tajikistan and High Pamirs Guide book is in the process of being released…
In the meantime…
Oct 2010: The new and updated Lonely Planet Central Asia Guide has just been released! .
===========
Tajikistan isn’t the easiest country to get to or travel through, but it is one of the most beautiful and fascinating
This website is still getting developed and content is gradually being added. It does assume that the visitor already knows something about the country.
This website aims to help facilitate travel and tourism to Tajikistan – so if you are a potential traveler – what do you want to know or would you find helpful on this website? This website is going to get bigger and better so what do you want to see on it?
note: it seems that my contact form is now spammed….until I can get round to rectifying that I’m not very contactable!
About this website
This website aims not to duplicate the information already out there – there are some excellent informative websites already regarding certain aspects (although most are in danger of getting out of date). This website aims to point you to the best ones as well as fill in the gaps. Most of all this website is a work in progress and feedback is appreciated.
I don’t claim to know everything so please provide feedback when I have forgotten something obvious or you know something contrary. I welcome new updated information or experiences/feedback that may be deemed useful to the community. There will be a forum set up here in the not too distant future.
Contact From – I get messages from people that want replies but don’t leave their email address – (or the system isn’t picking it up) please put it in the contact form message as well if you want me to reply.
